This year Christmas was celebrated in new way, a short staycation at city center of Kuala Lumpur with simple reason which is to truly immerse ourselves in the comfort and facilities provided by the hotel. Since the city area might be less crowded due to the long weekend with extended public holiday, it will be good time to walk around the city center too, which we seldom do.
We always enjoy staying in hotel with executive or club lounge where you could chill there all day long. Hence, before deciding this staycation, I had surveyed quite a few hotel options available, we finally decided to give DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur a try. We have booked the Executive suite with exclusive access to the business lounge which is located at the top 34th floor, with nice view of the KLCC twin towers. Although it is more like a side view of the twin towers, but it is still fine and more importantly, we get to sip our evening cocktail while enjoying the view.
This hotel is located just 15mins walk away from the KLCC twin towers. It is also conveniently sharing the same building with a commercial mall, the Intermark. Do not expect many shops available but just nice to reach out for some food and groceries. We can easily get a Uber or taxi downstairs.
Overall rating for the hotel based on the room we stayed:
- Bed comfort: 4 stars ★★★★
- Room space: 5 stars ★★★★★
- Room style: conventional business stay design
- Cleanliness: 4 stars ★★★★
- Toiletries: Crabtree & Evelyn
- Service: 3.5 stars (lounge staff less attentive) ★★★
- Location: 4 stars ★★★★
- Remarks: Despite the limited varieties during evening cocktail at the lounge, their food taste pretty decent. Like their fried tofu with thai sauce. Breakfast varieties on the other hand are really good at their Makan Kitchen.
Smooth check-in and being welcomed with some sweets and fruits platter.

Range of toiletries given for this room.
There is a cocktail session everyday from 5pm until 7pm open for all guest with business lounge access. Serving some tidbits, finger food, Chinese dim sum, sandwiches, fruits, and of course the free flow wine.
Cheers and Bon appetite!
Took a photo with twin towers at the lounge before we headed out.
Walked around the city center and managed to capture some close up photos of KLCC twin towers. (the one at the right bottom was captured at the business lounge though.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to our beloved families and friends!
